Adam Washburn shares encouragement during difficult times
As a worship pastor for Life.Church Omaha, Adam Washburn’s purpose comes from a life of ministry.
Outside of being a husband and father, Washburn defines himself as a follower of Christ. He has been in ministry for 15 years and has served Life.Church Omaha for almost three years.
A calling from God
Washburn says he knew he wanted to pursue ministry at age 16 when he heard a message by Matthew Barnett, a Los Angeles-based pastor, at a church summer camp.
“He was talking about ministry, purpose, and calling,” Washburn says. “It was at that moment that I knew that God was calling me into ministry. I went 100 percent that direction and never really looked back.”
Encouragement for stressful times
In times of fear and uncertainty, Washburn says his hope comes from believing in Jesus Christ. During the current pandemic, he encourages people to remember God has a plan for everyone.
“The Bible tells us there’s a peace of God that surpasses anything we understand that can guard our hearts and our minds,” Washburn says. “When we find that, we anchor to that first. Then we can begin to look and see beyond the right now.”
Instead of dwelling on this fear, what if we can contribute outside of that? For me, one of the best ways that we can do that is through serving others. Click To TweetWashburn says people can deal with fears of illness or unemployment by focusing on service, such as volunteering at a soup kitchen or donating to Open Door Mission.

Hope for the future
While fears are legitimate, Washburn says he encourages people to look past uncertainty to recognize God’s love and their inherent value.
He says people can gain peace by remembering these times won’t last forever.
“No matter where you’re at, what’s happening today is not the end,” Washburn says. “We will all get through this season that we’re in. Keep pressing on because there’s a bright future ahead.”
