Know Your Key Financial Players
Who are your key financial players? Your key financial players are your financial professionals, such as bankers, accountants, tax preparers, financial planners, financial advisors, and insurance agents who advise you financially, handle your money, or sell you financial products and services. What is your relationship with them? As a consumer, you need to know those people, and trust them. You need to know whether they always have your best interest in mind. For instance, will your banker inform you about an upcoming loan sale that will save hundreds of dollars compare to what you currently have? My banker did. Is your financial advisor trying to sell you products simply because of the commissions, or do you really need that financial product? If your parents are your financial key players, meaning that they still give you money, you need to know the terms of the relationship. Are they going to stop giving you money once you graduate? What if something happens to your parents? Who will take care of you financially? Think about it. Who are your financial players?
