Lamarr Womble on Passion, Purpose, and Dreaming Big

Published by Marco LeRoc at May 23, 2017

We all know that orchestras need directors to perform. But, if you’ve been feeling lost or uncertain about your path in life, a Dream Director might be just the solution. Lamarr Womble is a motivational speaker and Dream Director who helps high school youth pursue their passions and build a toolbox for success.

I was lucky enough to catch up with Lamarr recently about what it takes to foster a sense of passion and possibility. Tune in to our interview to hear more about:

  • Why it’s important to practice what you preach
  • The many different forms of leadership (and how to become a leader yourself)
  • The most effective ways to find your passion
  • The inspiring success stories of Lamarr’s students

And, of course, we talked about what success is! Lamarr emphasized that “sometimes we use education as the defining factor as to whether someone is going to be successful or not,” but that there are many unconventional ways to pave a path for ourselves in life.

Lamarr left me with a thought-provoking piece of advice for those who haven’t found their purpose yet. “Exposure is like the birthplace of possibility,” he said, and this can be true for youth and adults alike. Try things. Take risks. Learn what you like. Expose yourself to potentially great things and you just might find your thing!

Once you’ve watched the video, take a moment to think about how you can find (or have found!) your own passion. Do you love what you do every day? If not, how might you find something you’re passionate about? Share your thoughts in the comments.
