Omaha realtor offers tips on how to sell yourself and show love to others

Omahan Kail Walker has always had a passion for helping people.

A realtor for PJ Morgan, Walker’s love for real estate came from his mother, who has been an agent in Omaha for 23 years and also works for the company.

“I’m a huge momma’s boy so it’s a dream for me,” Walker says. “I know a lot of people wouldn’t be able to work with their mom, but my mom and I have a great relationship.”

Lessons in selling

As a realtor, Walker says he believes listening to clients helps them achieve their needs.

“My number one thing in sales is the more people you help, the less you have to sell,” he says. “If you can help more people, the sales are going to come to you.”

Walker says people can set themselves apart by developing their personal brands.

“If you can figure out a way to separate yourself, you’re going to be able to withstand the competition,” he says. “It is important to brand yourself and stand out in a crowded space.”

Networking for change

After reading “The Little Red Book of Selling” by Jeffrey Gitomer, Walker says he was inspired to start riseOmaha, an organization that hosts networking events for business and creative professionals.

He says the book helped him understand the importance of networking and helping people with their personal growth. In June, Walker and riseOmaha also gave back to the community by hosting a unity walk for racial justice.

“Something needed to be done and I felt that it was my duty as co-founder of riseOmaha that we had to do something,” Walker says.

Keys to happiness

In addition to following their passions, Walker says young entrepreneurs can gain happiness from serving others.

“When you give back to people, you’re going to live a better life,” he says. “You’re going to feel the love in your heart and you’re going to spread that. It all comes back to you in a positive way.”
