Primary care physician advocates for healthy habits during unstable time
From a young age, Maman Ali, M.D., knew he wanted to be a doctor.
Originally from Niger, West Africa, Ali says he was always interested in health and disease prevention. After obtaining his medical degree from the University Abdou Moumouni, he moved to Omaha in 2001 where he completed his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in family medicine and internal medicine.
A lifelong mission
The founder and owner of Miracle Hills Clinic, Ali serves there as a primary care physician with a patient-first approach.
“I’ve always wanted to be a leader, entrepreneur, and someone who can think outside the box to provide the best care to my patients,” Ali says.
An expert on preventive medicine, Ali started his clinic to help people reach their health goals. He also works to foster relationships between patient, physician, and community.

To prevent disease, Ali says people must practice healthy habits, which include nutrition, exercise, and consistent sleep.
He says a regular intake of water, nutrients, and fiber is also important.
“Staying healthy starts from the basics,” Ali says. “We all have to have proper nutrition.”
Ali says a balanced diet of protein, carbohydrates, and fats is essential. He stresses that people should avoid overeating, which usually comes from snacking, and eat three times a day to achieve proper nutrition.
Lessons from the pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ali says people should listen to healthcare professionals and follow guidelines.
“We have to be ready and we have to be able from the grassroot recognize signs of disease and signs of pandemic,” Ali says. “We should practice awareness prevention.”
While a primary care physician can help, Ali says a healthy lifestyle starts with the patient.
“We have to play our roles to stay healthy,” he says. “We have to stay actively involved in our health care.”
