5 Motivating Must-Read Books for the Fall Season

Published by Marco LeRoc at October 12, 2016

A new season is upon us. Sweaters are coming out of storage and swimsuits are taking their place. As the chilly fall air creeps through our windows, it can often feel like we’re preparing for hibernation.

But just because that’s what our bodies want doesn’t mean that “survival mode” is what’s best for our career and personal lives. Don’t let the incoming frost put your motivation on ice! If you feel that mental chill coming on, pick up one of these wonderfully inspiring books to get un-stuck in your life and your career, learn how to reach for your dreams, and live life to the fullest—even in the face of extreme adversity.

1. Get Momentum, by Jason W. Womack and Jodi Womack

If you find yourself frustrated by the one-size-fits-all approach to self-help, this book may be the one you’ve been waiting for. Jason and Jodi Womack help you hone in on what exactly it is that you need to be happy in life. Then, they offer easy-to-follow, step-by-step advice on how to use that criteria to propel yourself toward your goals in all areas of your life.

2. The Story of You, by Mark Minard

Most of us can look back at our lives and recall countless moments of disappointment and a string of regrettable decisions. Sometimes, we give those moments the power to keep us paralyzed and held at arm’s length from our goals. Mark Minard shares the story of how he turned a life of adversity into one of adventure to take back the power from emotions like fear and anger. Minard shares practical steps to change your mindset, change your perspective on failure, and turn your limitations into strengths.

3. Fish Out of Water, by Calvin Wayman

Do you find yourself actively pursuing your goals with no long-term payoff? If so, Wayman’s Fish Out of Water is a must-read. The author walks his readers through why we feel like “fish out of water” every time we unlock a new achievement in life and why that feeling leads to us landing right back where we started. Wayman outlines the tools and strategies you need to overcome that feeling to become the “you” that you were born to be—in simple, realistic, and easy to understand terms.

4. 50 Ways to Yay!, by Alexi Panos

Life is too short to wake up with a case of the “blahs” every morning, and Alexi Panos is determined to help you take charge of your circumstances. In 50 Ways to Yay!, Panos helps you define success, maintain persistence, “turn failure into fuel”, learn to love yourself, and utilize dozens of other inspiring techniques to turn your life into one that you’re truly happy to live.

5. Love Louder, by Preston Smiles

Declared a “former bad boy turned inspirational messenger,” Preston Smiles uses his life as a Compton-born and LA-raised young man to ask the hard questions and motivate his readers to act on the answers. He crafted thirty-three tools geared toward developing the confidence, clarity, motivation, and meaning it takes to live a happy and fulfilled life. His powerful story illustrates what it takes to thrive in the face of heartbreak and hardship, become a “you” that walks the walk, and overcome the unhealthy habits that hold us back from achieving success.

Have you read any of the books on my must-read list? Which books have helped you change your life for the better? I’d love to hear about your literary inspiration in the comments below.
